Coaching Experience: I have been around sports for a long time as I played volleyball and basketball at my younger age. I have coaching experience for about 16 years as head coach and assistant coach. When I first moved to Ocala I was Steve Hubner’s assistant coach with the 18’s and under team. This team won Gold at the Power Volleyball tournament in Deland and Silver in OVA. In the past 3 years, I have been the Head Coach of 18’s team, winning Silver in the Top Select tournament and winning Bronze in USAV Regionals in 2011.The last season I coached three teams, two of them were the 18’s green and the 16’s black. I also coached the boys’ team. I also assisted two teams last season. I also have the experience with teams of Puerto Rico such as Peq. Indias winning in the White division in 2005. Also, Mango Volley winning in the silver division in 2008 both teams in AUU nationals. In the past few years I have coached boys team in the categories of 13 and 14 under winning seven tournaments in AUU and USAV in Gold Division ending in qualifying for USA Boys Nationals. We took third place in the Daytona Tournament and finish eighth at the AUU nationals in 2011.
This past season with the 16’s boys team we won gold at the Longwood tournament, second place in Gold at Tampa Bay Volleyball Academy tournament, and Silver at the AAU nationals. I am impact certified and AUU double goal part one and two certified. I am also coaching at West Port High School for my second year. I also have experienced as a women’s basketball coach finishing in the first four in Puerto Rico little lads and “Federacion de Baloncesto de Puerto Rico”. I am basketball certified with the “Federacion de baloncesto de Puerto Rico.”

Family Background: I am a father and a husband. I have three children and one grandson. My children are Douwyna, Reggie and John Montalvo and my grandson Jeremiah. All three of them are very passionate for the sport of Volleyball. Douwyna played at the college level and now she is working towards her degree. Reggie is playing for Warner University and its also working towards his degree. My beloved wife Johana who always supports all of us and I cannot forget my brother Jesus who supports my children dreams at all times.
